Safety Measures

Jupiter Medical Center has put into place comprehensive
safety and infection prevention measures to safeguard
the health of our patients and team members.

Comprehensive Care Now Available

Jupiter Medical Center has resumed performing elective surgeries and is now offering our full continuum of care across our inpatient and outpatient services. From initial evaluation and diagnosis to treatment and recovery, our physicians and medical experts are here for you and your loved ones.

We are working closely with surgeons and physicians to reschedule many surgeries and procedures that were postponed in March and have now resumed this month. We know there are many members of our community who have been patiently waiting for these procedures and surgeries to improve the quality and length of life.

We're proud to be recognized by The Leapfrog Group as a 'Top Hospital' placing us in the top 6% of hospitals nationwide. As the #1 rated hospital for safety, quality and patient satisfaction in Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast, our #HealthCareHeroes look forward to providing exceptional care closer to home.

Preparing in
Advance

Jupiter Medical Center began preparing
in January to receive COVID-19 patients
and to protect our other patients and
team members from this respiratory disease.

We were one of the first hospitals in our region
to implement CDC guidelines for the screening,
diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19 patients.

To prepare our staff, we conducted multidisciplinary
training drills for screening, diagnosing, isolating and
treating potential cases of COVID-19. Training included
the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
in accordance with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention recommended guidelines.

We also established an Incident Command Center to
streamline communications and provide administrative
oversight to manage treatment, clinical staffing and
the allocation of rooms, equipment and supplies.

Screening Visitors, Team Members and Physicians

To reduce the potential of COVID-19 spread, Jupiter Medical Center implemented a “no visitor” policy, with some exceptions, including pediatric and labor & delivery patients. Hospice visits are allowed on a limited basis.

The visitor policy changes were not made lightly, as we understand that spending time with family and friends is of great comfort to our patients when they are ill or being treated for a medical situation.

We are also carefully screening all visitors and vendors prior to entrance to our facilities and we have also implemented precautionary screening procedures for all physicians and team members. We believe these are prudent measures in our continued effort to protect the health and safety of every patient and team member.

Rigorous Cleaning
and Disinfection

In addition to our already rigorous infection prevention
procedures, we have implemented additional cleaning and
disinfecting of all surfaces and in all patient areas.
Our Environmental Services team continues to round patient care
areas three times each day to clean and disinfect high-touch areas.
We are also using Tru-D SmartUVC ultra-violet disinfection robots,
which inactivate viruses and other pathogens on surfaces.

Accelerated Testing
for Hospitalized
Patients and
Health Care Workers

We have been notified by the Florida Department of
Health that some private laboratories can now
prioritize COVID-19 tests results for hospitalized
patients and health care workers. This change means
we can anticipate receiving test results within 24 to
48 hours instead of the current seven to nine-day
wait time many local, regional and national hospitals
have been experiencing.

This is a welcome development and will help us
release patients confirmed negative more quickly
back to the comfort of their homes, while
simultaneously helping us conserve resources.

Access to Care

Patients will be screened before entering the centers for potential COVID-19 exposure, travel history and symptoms, such as fever, cough and shortness of breath. If they meet the criteria, they will be triaged and treated in their vehicle outside of our centers.

We have temporarily closed our West Palm Beach urgent care location in order to focus our staff, resources, equipment and supplies to our other locations, where demand is the greatest.
